Can you take over a project that someone else started?

Question

Accepted Answer

Taking over an existing project is something we do frequently. Whether your previous developer disappeared, the team ran out of capacity, or the codebase needs a fresh set of eyes — we are equipped to step in. Here is how our project takeover process works: Step 1 — Code Audit: We review the existing codebase, database structure, and deployment setup. We assess code quality, security vulnerabilities, outstanding bugs, and technical debt. Step 2 — Honest Report: We give you a clear, jargon-free report covering what works, what needs fixing, and what we recommend rebuilding versus retaining. No sugarcoating. Step 3 — Takeover Plan: We agree on a phased plan — whether that is fixing critical bugs first, migrating to a better infrastructure, or continuing feature development from where the last team stopped. Step 4 — Documentation: If documentation is missing (which it often is), we write it as we work — so the system is never a black box again. We have taken over projects built in a wide range of stacks. If the existing code is reusable, we build on it. If it would cost more to fix than to rebuild cleanly, we will tell you that honestly and explain why.
